Brewing Guide
To fully enjoy the subtle and complex flavors of Duyun Maojian, proper brewing is essential. The leaves are delicate, so care with temperature is key.
-
Water Temperature: 80°C - 85°C (176°F - 185°F) . Do not use boiling water, as it will scorch the delicate leaves and create a bitter taste.
-
Tea Leaves: Use about 3-5 grams (about 1.5-2 teaspoons) of tea leaves per 150ml of water, or adjust according to personal preference .
-
Vessel: A transparent glass cup or a porcelain gaiwan is ideal for appreciating the tea's color and the way the leaves dance and unfurl during brewing .
-
Method:
-
Rinse the cup with hot water to warm it.
-
Place the tea leaves in the cup and gently shake to appreciate the dry aroma.
-
Pour hot water along the side of the cup (avoid pouring directly onto the leaves to prevent scalding) until it is about one-third full. Gently swirl the cup to allow the leaves to fully absorb water and release their aroma .
-
Wait for about 1-2 minutes, then continue to fill the cup with hot water .
-
Steep for a total of 1-2 minutes for the first infusion . For a quicker brew, you can pour out the tea after just 15 seconds .
-
-
Re-steeping: This tea is excellent for multiple infusions. For subsequent brews, increase the steeping time by 5-10 seconds each time. The leaves can be steeped 3-4 times
