Authentic Chinese Longjing (Dragon Well) Green Tea – The Famous Tea of Hangzhou – Premium Spring Harvest

Product Description:

Discover China's Most Celebrated Green Tea

This premium Longjing (Dragon Well) Tea is one of China's most famous and beloved green teas, renowned worldwide for its exquisite quality and rich cultural heritage. Originating from the legendary tea-growing region surrounding West Lake in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, this tea has been treasured by Chinese emperors for centuries, with the Qianlong Emperor famously bestowing the title of "Imperial Tribute Tea" upon it. Longjing is often regarded as the "National Drink of China" and is frequently presented to visiting heads of state.

Authentic Longjing tea is protected as a Geographical Indication product, with strict regulations ensuring that only tea grown in the designated West Lake, Qiantang, and Yuezhou regions of Zhejiang can bear this prestigious name. This offering is crafted from high-quality spring harvest leaves, processed using traditional pan-firing techniques that have been perfected over generations.

Tea Characteristics:

  • Appearance: The dry leaves are beautifully flat, smooth, and uniform, with a distinctive light green to yellow-green colour and a lustrous, jade-like sheen. Each leaf is shaped by hand during the pan-firing process, a hallmark of true Longjing craftsmanship.

  • Aroma: The fragrance is fresh and captivating, with a signature nutty, roasted chestnut aroma that is characteristic of authentic Longjing. You will also detect subtle notes of fresh vegetation and a delicate hint of natural sweetness.

  • Flavour: The liquor is a bright, clear golden-yellow colour. The taste is exceptionally smooth, mellow, and refreshing, with a perfect balance of nutty sweetness and a clean, grassy freshness. The finish is long and lingering, with a gentle sweetness that coats the palate. Longjing is renowned for its "Four Perfections": green colour, rich aroma, sweet taste, and beautiful shape.

Brewing Guide:

To fully appreciate the delicate flavours of this premium green tea, we recommend the following methods:

Method 1: Traditional Glass or Gaiwan Brewing (Recommended)

  1. Preparation: Use a glass cup or a porcelain Gaiwan. Glass or porcelain teaware is recommended, as porous materials like Yixing clay may mute the tea's fresh, nutty fragrance.

  2. Water Temperature: Heat water to 75–85°C (167–185°F) . Do not use boiling water, as this will "cook" the delicate leaves and create bitterness.

  3. Tea Amount: Use approximately 3 grams of tea per 150ml of water (a ratio of 1g tea to 50ml water).

  4. Rinsing (Optional): You may pour a small amount of hot water over the leaves and immediately discard it to "awaken" the leaves and remove any dust.

  5. Steeping: Pour in the hot water and steep for 2–3 minutes. The leaves will slowly unfurl and sink to the bottom, releasing their full flavour.

  6. Enjoy: The tea can be steeped 3-5 times, with each infusion revealing new layers of flavour. Increase steeping time by 5-10 seconds for subsequent infusions.

Method 2: Simple Cup Brewing

For a quick and easy cup, steep 1 teaspoon (approx. 3g) of tea in 8oz (240ml) of water at 180°F (82°C) for 3 minutes. Strain and serve.

Storage Instructions:

Green tea is delicate and requires careful storage to preserve its freshness and flavour. Please follow these guidelines:

  • Environment: Store in a cool, dry, and dark place. Avoid direct sunlight, high temperatures, and humidity.

  • Seal: Always keep the tea in airtight packaging to prevent oxidation and the absorption of moisture and odours.

  • Odour: Green tea is highly absorbent of odours. Keep it away from strong-smelling items such as spices, cooking, or perfumes.

  • Refrigeration: For long-term storage, it is recommended to store the tea in a refrigerator (0–5°C / 32–41°F) to maintain freshness. Ensure it is in a sealed container to prevent it from absorbing other odours in the fridge. Allow the tea to come to room temperature before opening the container to prevent condensation.

  • Best Consumed: Unlike aged teas such as Pu-erh, Longjing is best consumed within 1–2 years of harvest to enjoy its fresh, vibrant character. While it can be stored longer, the aroma and flavour may diminish over time.

Perfect for tea lovers seeking the refined, sweet, and nutty character of China's most famous green tea – a timeless classic that embodies the essence of Hangzhou's tea culture!
